Introduction to Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) and Smokeview - Lisbon 23-24 February

This time it was Lisbon! Great participation for this introductory course to FDS and Smokeview.

This 2-day seminar provided practical hands-on introduction to Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) and Smokeview. Each topic module included a lecture and a workshop in which the student worked example problems on their personal laptop computer.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion the participant should understand:

• Pyrolysis and combustion.
• Boundary condition options, including: conduction, multiple layers, fixed temperature, extraction, supply, etc.
• Radiation.
• Smoke detectors and sprinklers.
• Implementing pre and post flashover fires.
• Smokeview techniques
• Using spreadsheets to develop FDS input files
